Everyone.net's New Email Interface

On some of my accounts I see everyone.net has enabled AJAX (I guess that is the word of the day).

Anyway, login is fairly fast, but when you click on “inbox” it does take a second or two for it to load all the messages. Think I have maybe 50 to 75 messages in the inbox of the test account.

Unfortunately, everyone.net still has side and top adverts, so my space was cramped… and I have a 19 inch (flat) monitor… 1400 x 900…. I’ll have to hook up my 15 inch and see what happens.

Will I use it on my paid accounts? More than likely… but it depends on how fast the emails shows…. I have one account with over 1,000 emails… lol… we will see what happens when that one tries to load.

Looks good though… seems pretty speedy once loaded… too early to provide a definite on paid accounts, but I’d say definite “no” for those without a paid account and a small monitor.

My suggestions:

1. Dump one of the ads… I’d go the MS route and dump the side advert… and then allow for people to view messages on either the side or bottom…. When viewed on the side, they will be able to see the entire message and more unopened emails.

2. Make the email menu bar smaller. Right now it is very large and takes up precious space.

3. Goes with #1, but allow people to view messages on the side.

4. Dump all the flashy ads… my headache comes from having that account open too long… the ads are flashing all over the place… wonder if anyone ever had a seizure from them?

How does it rate against yahoo and hotmail? Can't comment until I see the paid account version... the free version, as mentioned above, is a "no go" for members as it stands.....

You could host elsewhere and post the link here, right?

Let me see if I can send to you easily...

edit: no, I can't even PM to you... I don't know why some sites make it so hard to do things...

Seems there are a lot of new services that make this easy... like http://tinypic.com/

Although, there should be a way to upload on this site without going to another service....

Don't know which will work, but here is one SS...

Like I said, I have a 19 inch monitor (1400 x 900) and you can see how little room I have to read the message at the bottom with the everyone.net service... with ads.

To compare Microsoft Live's service, here is a screenshot...

Hmm...

Everyone.net's interface looks ok. The layout could be better and the icons are kind of poor....Windows Live is ok. Interesting layout of the menu options, then message list, then message view across the screen, instead of the typical 3-pane format with preview below list. I still think Yahoo has it beat for design/functionality, but it's much slower to load than, say, the AJAX interface of Webmail.us. So I guess it's a trade-off all the way around.

I don't agree... I have a widescreen monitor so it is much easier for "me" to read the emails in Microsoft live. Yahoo has their ad to the right... can only read messages on the bottom.

Webmail.us... I don't know if you can view emails to the right. I did not see the option right away.... edit: after going to the advanced features, I did not see....

Considering everyone.net's usual pace of innovation, I'd say it's pretty impressive

Actually, if they keep the stability and reliability they have had over the last five years, I would not care if they never changed anything.

No doubt, I was referring more to playing catch up, such as with storage space
