Lightbulb Contact Undelete

Deleted contacts should go to the trash, allowing for an easy recovery after an accidental deletion.

Currently, once deleted, a contact is 100% gone.

Doesn't an undo popup appear giving you a short time to reverse the deletion?

Thank you, I had not noticed this pop-up at the very bottom of the screen. I will keep this in mind, but I would still prefer to see discarded contacts moved to a "deleted items" folder.

Maybe, you will think the way it works should be different, but Fastmail does provide a way to restore contacts (and other kinds of data) that has been inadvertently deleted. Look through https://www.fastmail.help/hc/en-us/a...e-deleted-data for the details.

Thank you for your reply: this is also helpful, even if I would still like to have a simple "bin" in which to easily find recently deleted contacts.

There's no point telling us, you need to tell FM what you think. Create a ticket and explain to them how you think the service could be improved.

Isn't that one of the objectives of such forum... making suggestions for improvement?

This forum is not run by Fastmail, and - these days - it's pretty rare for any FM members of staff to read it, or at least, to comment on any of the threads.

So if you actually want your idea implemented you have to convince FM themselves, and the way to do that is by arguing your case in a support ticket.

Sadly, for a long time, this has been accurate. Years ago, when Jeremy Howard owned Fastmail, he was a strong believer in the value of direct two-way communication between Fastmail and its users, even when he was not hearing praise. Now, Fastmail like most organisations, sees its users as a necessary evil, without which the business would make no money. However, communicating with them all too often means hearing things you do not want to hear.

You can try a support ticket. If there is someone at Fastmail who likes your idea, they may take it up and champion it.
