How Do I Add An Image Link Under the New Interface?

I switched to 'Rich Text' and then pasted

<img src="http://domain.com/car.jpg">

but the code shows on the page instead of the image.

How do I fix this?

The Rich Text feature does not allow the user to write HTML. You can cut and paste an image into the message body (Ctl-C / Ctl-V) to see inline images directly in the message. Or you can enter some text, select the text, and use the link tool on the Rich Text toolbar to associate a URL link with that text.

how do you cut & paste an image? i want it to display in the email.

In Windows, I can often right-click a displayed image and copy the image into the Windows clipboard. I also use the Windows snipping tool, and I find it very useful:

If the image resides on your computer, you can also use the Insert Image button on the compose toolbar.

I mistakenly thought you could also drag-and-drop the image, but it appears that merely attaches the file and doesn't display it inline.

WoW I had seen the link to the snipping tool just never thought anything of it! NICE I am use to using the "Print Screen" key to capture the whole screen and edit out what I didn't need in MS paint..

A really neat feature of the snipping tool is the optional delay. This allows you time to open up a pull-down menu before the automatic screen capture.

It's been a while since I've been on Linux, but as I recall Shutter worked very well for full and partial screen captures.

I just copy and paste a photo and that works really well so perhaps Fastmail have changed a few things over the last couple of weeks.

Assuming the remote server doesn't prevent hotlinking

I've generally moved away from just putting in image tags for that reason... More than a few times, the recipient couldn't actually load the image. Unless it's excessively large, it's usually far more reliable just to attach it (plus the recipient doesn't need an Internet connection to see it).
