UKinbox.com?

I have been trying to create an account at UKinboxl.com. No matter what I do, when I submit the registration, I get "Sorry, there was a problem with the signup process."

Has anyone succeeded in creating an account there?

If so, comments? Caveats?

To get an account now, you must be a resident of the UK. Years ago, you didn't have to.

Even if such a requirement were announced any place on the home page (which it is not), how would it be verified or enforced? For example, If they meant "use an ISP based in the UK," that could easily be circumvented or spoofed; how to define and verify "residency"? And surely a UK citizen who happened to be domiciled outside the UK would not be excluded from use of the service? Requiring a UK mobile number would establish residency (more or less, and not infallibly), but they do not require any mobile number. So I repeat janusz' question -- what is the source of your assertion?

it said this:

Sorry, there was a problem with the signup process. Please contact support at ukinbox.com if you require further assistance.

I guess they check your IP address....! Me being in the Netherlands..

There are various official methods of residency verification, but I bet it's the IP address used to sign up which counts.

I imagine you're right, but the IP address can be manipulated, proxied, or falsified. And what about UK citizens (or actual physical residents) who for one reason or another are trying to sign up from a location whose IP address is not a UK address? I can think of any number of perfectly legitimate hypothetical examples of such a situation. Why do they say nothing about any of these concerns on their home page?

And what about human proxies doing a favor? I have had several accounts opened for me by helpful members of this forum in several countries where email services are limited to those with IP addresses in those countries. Any UK-based members here who would care to do the same in this case? If so, please PM me, and thanks in advance.
