Move from Gmail to ProtonMail
If you are using Gmail and feel that ProtonMail is more suitable for you, at the present time you can only export contacts from Gmail to ProtonMail but cannot export messages.
Export Gmail contacts In the upper left, you switch from the Mail view to the Contacts view. On the toolbar, click More> Export ... Select All contacts and Outlook CSV format and click on Export. If necessary, choose a location for the download of the CSV file. Enter contact into ProtonMail On the toolbar, click on Contacts. At the top right, click Upload. Click in the area labeled Drop Here, navigate and select the CSV or VCF contact file, then click Upload. Export Gmail messages You access the Data Download page of Google. Click Select None, scroll down and turn on Mail, then click Next. Choose ZIP as the file type, 2GB as the storage size, and Send download link via email as the delivery method Click on Create archive. Forward Gmail to ProtonMail Setting up email forwarding is a convenient option. Gmail forwarding doesn't use end-to-end encryption, but the mail will still be P2P encrypted, so you don't need to worry about your email being blocked. To forward Gmail to ProtonMail, do the following: In Gmail, click the gear icon> Settings. Navigate to the Forwarding and POP / IMAP tab. Click Add a forwarding address at the top. Enter your ProtonMail address and click Next. Wait for the Gmail confirmation email to be sent to the ProtonMail inbox, then click on the confirmation link in that email to grant forwarding permission. Refresh Gmail, navigate back to the Forwarding and POP / IMAP tab if necessary, then select Forward a copy of incoming mail at the top. Choose a ProtonMail address as well as the Keep Gmail’s option to copy in the Inbox. Scroll down and click on Save Changes. |
