Fastmail falsely rejecting GMail as Spam?

I have just had two different friends contact me to let me know that their mails are being rejected as spam by my own and my wife's fastmail accounts.

The delivery reports state:
Quote:
This is the mail delivery agent at messagelabs.com.
I was not able to deliver your message to the following addresses.

<xxxxxxx@xxxx.net>:
xx.xx.160.24 failed after I sent the message.
Remote host said: 550 Spamming not allowed
Is there an issue with messagelabs filtering being a bit overzealous?

Is there any way to whitelist addresses in a standard Member account? The addresses concerned are in my Address Book so I would have expected them to be exempt from Spam detection.

I'm having a similar problem, with GoogleGroups. I haven't received any mail from any GoogleGroups for two or three days.

Cool

That doesn't surprise me, a lot of spammers use Google mail to send their junk. I used to get one nearlyevery day that traces to a google IP using Spamcop.

Just because a spammer is using Google's ip to send spam, doesn't mean that Fastmail should block all mail from Google. Hotmail does this, silent disards, it's very annoying (but they're very over zealous about it and their filtering is broken anyway). FM should block obvious spammers at the MX level, the rest should be dealt with via spam scoring. I wonder if FM takes into account forwards. E.g. somebody forwards all their gmail to FM and FM blocks Google that way thinking Google sent the spam.

It depends on the contents of the message, if its forwarded junk then yes it may get rejected.

The messages that were bounced for me were not forwarded junk.
It was a conversation between my friends.

Surely addresses in the address book should be exempt?

I agree. Addresses in the address book should be exempt.

I didn't have any problems getting mail from GoogleGroups until the big crash but I've been having problems since then. Could this be connected?

This is not us rejecting the message, this is messagelabs rejecting the message, I don't believe we have no control over this.

Hmmm, I've had to do some pretty aggressive IP blocking because of recent zombie problems (I'll detail in another thread) and may have accidentally caught a googlegroups server.

Can you PM me your account details, and where I can find in your account the last googlegroups message that did get through?

We're definitely not catching google groups servers, and I can see lots of google groups email going through.

If anyone is having a specific problem, you can PM me your account name and all the details (which group, when messages stopped, what folders they should be in, etc) and I can look into it.
