Archiving Gmail to HD
Do I need to or should I be archiving my GMail to my HD so nothing is lost and if so how is this done?

I should not answer because I know too little about such.
But I would look at what kind of long term stability there is for different email clients. Can their archives be read even if the developer stop supporting them. Can they be imported later into other email client programs. Even consider if it can be done from linux in case you stop using the OS you ahve now? Then by having an email client doing a local copy of the important emails and then you also have those also sent forward to another account to be sure there is some redundancy involved if the HDD crash. |

I would suggest using"Gmail Back Up", a small free program, available here :
http://www.gmail-backup.com/gmail-backup-0107 I have just successfully used it to not only back up my old gmail account, but also to restore the contents of that account to my new google apps account, as I recently switched from using a well known email provider to google apps for my domain. Although I was happy with my chosen host, it smply cannot beat google apps cost of free |
