Beta-release of Files-interface
All right. Finally, we're ready to show you guys our new web-interface for Files.
http://www.runbox.com/files/ (I think somebody once said that one should avoid releasing stuff on friday afternoons, but what could possibly go wrong? :-) Known issues in this release: - Drag&drop only works in Internet Explorer - No confirmation on file-deletion - all deletions are final (even recursive folder deletion) - Rename only works in Internet Explorer - Pressing enter when you rename a file, will submit the form with wrong parameters, so the file isn't renamed. - When you rename a file with " in the filename, the wrong filename shows up in the input field. The correct file will be renamed when you submit the form, though. - Changes made by FTP will become visible the next time you log in to the web interface. If you discover any other errors, or if you have any suggestions for useful features, please let us know. It should be pretty stable, but it is a beta-release, so use on your own risk. |

Looking pretty good!
Found a bug though. Uploaded a file. Selected the file. Selected current folder. Selected Copy. It created a second file by the same name as the first in the current folder. Deleted 2nd file. Now if you try to do anything with the first file (move it, delete it) you get: Could not move/delete /foldername/filename: No such file or directory The only way I could get rid of the file was to create a new folder. Move all the other files to the new folder. Then delete the entire folder with the bad file. Regards, Rich |

ouch.
You're right. Copy doesn't check if the file exists before it copies it. I've added a check for it now. It should be updated pretty soon. |

Hey Trond,
Very cool again - nice going. Still going through it for bugs/etc..., not that I will catch anything Rich won't . I am most impressed that you have maintained the simple interface as on the webmail. Integration will be a synch. Good work... One thing, disk Usage doesn't seem to work, or does it? I haven't registered for extra space, so not sure why it tells me that I am using 0% out of 100MB. I have a total of 400kb on there at the moment. Shouldn't the Disk Usage indicated that - since I am a trial user, my total storage is 20MB, and that I am using just under 3% of it? Thanks, BKB. P.S. Especially like being able to upload many files on one page - similar to Fastmail's add attachment on webmail. Um, something to add to our webmail perhaps!?!? |

OK, fixed.
Actually, this bug wasn't restricted to just copying. moving, renaming and uploading files with the same name would also overwrite the original file, and make it look like there were two files with the same name there. All these bugs are now fixed. I'm a little surprised at that bug, actually, because I'm fairly certain that I made sure this could happen a while ago. Ah, well, that's what I get for launching on Fridays I guess |

another thing
Trond,
Another thing is Logging out. When I log out it takes me to the same page as when I log out of webmail: http://www.runbox.com/mail/logout However, if at this stage I type in: http://www.runbox.com/files It takes me straight back to files, no log in needed. Um, a bit of a security flaw, perhaps. However, when I exit the browser, I can't do this again, and http://www.runbox.com/files takes me back to the log in page. Thanks, BKB. |

The logout button refers to the webmail, as do all the top menu choices - i think you still need to close the browser to log out, until we have single sign-on.

I see what you mean. Integrating the top menu choices will be really something . And I suppose the next step is single SSL log-in ok ok, holding my horses... Thanks, BKB. |

I'm using Mozilla 1.5b under Windows 2000 and get the same results as BKB. The logout is logging out the Webmail so it removes the SID cookie. The Runbox::AuthCookie_Runbox used by the File interface is still there. So when you go back to the files page it still sees the cookie so you are still logged in. Once you close all instances of the browser you end the session, the cookie is delete and you are logged off. Regards, Rich |

Right, Logout doesn't seem to work properly with Mozilla
OK, I'll have to investigate this a bit. I suspect there might be an issue with deleting cookies while redirecting, but I'm not sure. I'll let you know when I know more. |

Congratulation on releasing the beta ! Are you planning to include a kind of 'public folder' when releasing it, Trond

Ok, I'm jumping in again. No, we won't have that yet. Next step is attachments integration, actually! Some time after official launch.
