Anyone here using Tuffmail and PopPeeper

I am unable to setup an account in PopPeeper mini email client that would send mail through my Tuffmail SMTP. Anyone successfully using Tuffmail and PopPeeper together?

No problem with POP3; it's only the SMTP part that does not seem to work. Emails do not leave the client.

PopPeeper does send SMTP mails succesfully via GMail and another email service.

Taking model on these settings:

Quote:
Select Outgoing server (SMTP)
Enter smtp.mxes.net in the Server Name field
Enter 587 in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field. Port 587 is the standard port that mail clients should use to
submit mail to an SMTP server for transmission to the recipient.
Check the Use name and password checkbox
Enter your mailbox name in the User Name field
Click OK to complete the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings dialog
taken from Tuffmail's website

Have you tried port 465 ?
You would need the Poppeeper SSL Plugin.

I use Poppeeper as a mail checker via IMAP 993 SSL. But not for SMTP.
In Thunderbird I use 465 SSL for SMTP.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. I do have the SSL add-on. I tried all Tuffmail SMTP ports and always get the error "Could not connect to SMTP server".

Are you using the correct format for your user name. Tuffmail has an underscore in its usernames or mailbox names.

Thumbs down

Thanks for the kind help. In the end, it was a password typing error combined with another typing human error. Damn humans.

Thanks for the follow-up. How is Tuffmail these days? I closed my account when there was no obvious development and no response to an email message to support.

Same opinion. Unfortunately, support is regularly lacking.

I assume it's still 2006 over at Tuffmail. No modern web clients or other improvements.

This is why I stay with them! Prefer to stay away from unreliable gadgets.
