Speaking about holes...
I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire And though the holes were rather small They had to count them all Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall. I'd love to turn you on. The Beatles, A Day in the Life. |

Whislist
(Eddie Vedder / Pearl Jam, Album; Yield, 1998)
i wish i was a neutron bomb, for once i could go off i wish i was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on i wish i was a sentimental ornament that you hung on the christmas tree, i wish i was the star that went on top i wish i was the evidence, i wish i was the grounds for fifty million hands upraised and open toward the sky i wish i was a sailor with someone who waited for me i wish i was as fortunate as fortunate as me i wish i was a messenger and all the news was good i wish i was the full moon shining off of a camaro's hood i wish i was an alien at home behind the sun i wish i was the souvenir you kept your house key on i wish i was the pedal brake that you depended upon i wish i was the verb to trust that never let you down i wish i was a radio song the one that you turned up i wish i wish... "I hear the drizzle of the rain, like a memory it falls,
Soft and warm, continuing, tapping on my roof and walls, And from the shelter of my mind, Through the window of my eyes, I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets, To England where my heart lies" Simon and Garfunkel - Kathy's Song |

Pink Floyd and Rush both had some very lyrical songs, quite unlike what one would expect from a heavy-metal band. (Though neither quite fit into the heavy-metal category, or probably any fixed category, anyway.)
I especially like the lyrics of New World Man (which album was that from?), particularly: Quote:
Genesis are another band with great lyrics. One For the Vine from Wind and Wuthering is the only Möbius-loop lyric I've ever come across! |
