9Y.com shutting down

After 11 years, 9Y.com will be shutting down our email service on June 20th, 2015. We are directing our focus on other projects.

Service should continue uninterrupted until then.

I am using one free account more than 4 years. On daily basis. Bad day for me.

I am sorry to see the service shut down. It had some useful features. On the other hand, the three-week inactivity period was a nuisance and I almost lost my account several times over the years because of this. Still, it is always a shame when a niche provider closes its doors. A lot of providers have closed in the past year, and there are fewer and fewer useful alternatives to the big boys.

By 'three-week inactivity period' I meant the longstanding requirement to log in every three weeks or lose the account. I wasn't referring to the short notice before shutting down the service, although I do agree that more notice would have been a good thing.

I'm not sure what you mean. Since Hushmail is shutting down 9Y.com after the 20th, why would you be able to log in to a 9Y account after that, even at the Hushmail login page? If that's what you are hoping, why do you think this might be the case?
