Cannot sign out from Google account

I have my own private Gmail accounts, but I also have been given a Google account by the school where I follow evening courses to obtain an extra certificate/degree. This account is not just a mailbox, it's a whole portal where you can download the slides from the classes, etc. But there is also an email account included, it doesn't use @gmail.com domain but the domainname of the school. However, it is a Google account.

Now, when I sign out of the student portal, I do get a confirmation that I am no longer signed in. But when I return to gmail.com, I see the overview where my private Gmail accounts are indicated "signed out" and the account from my school is NOT indicated as signed out. When clicking it, I am not asked for a password again.

I contacted the school, and they said I am signed out of the student portal after pressing the sign out button, but that this action doesn't sign me out of the Google account associated with it.
I have the habit of signing out of my accounts after using them, and I would like to be able to sign out of this Google account too, so that each time I want to check the student portal I'd have to give my username and password again.

How can I sign out of this Google account that I've been assigned by the school?

You have to actually remove the Google account from the browser you are using. Click on the logo in the upper right of the Chrome browser and you should see the various Google accounts signed into. Use the three vertical dot menu to remove the Google account from the device. That will sign you out of it on that device. Always be sure to do that if you use your Google account on a shared computer.
