can't stay logged in

This started several days ago... two machines, desktop and laptop, not necessarily simultaneously... after a period of inactivity with FM, click on shortcut to reopen and am met with the login screen again. Log in including ticking "keep me logged in" box and all may be well for some indeterminate period of time including a few other visits to FM before it happens again. I have deleted and recreated the shortcut, wiped and re-established FM's cookies, never logged out of FM and always ticked the "keep me..." box when logging in again. Ideas?

A strange one. This kind of issue is generally cookie related, but you have tried deleting and recreating the cookies. The next thing I would try is starting your browser in safe mode (assuming it exists in your browser) in case some extension is perhaps blocking FastMail from accessing the cookie.
