I think the story of the purchase of the Fastmail.com domain by Fastmail.FM s told in some thread here, and maybe also on Fastmail's blog, but I cannot find it. I did find this blog post from 2006 about their getting of fastmail.net (also in this thread), and it says that "(fastmail.com belongs to Monster.com's FastWeb service and fastmail.org has been snaffled by fastmail.ca - who are not affiliated with us)".
