Arrow PLEASE TEST: New improved SMS system

Thanks to everyone who tried out the last SMS test. I'm pleased to say that we've now got a brand new SMS infrastructure online, which we'd like your help in testing. We believe that this should reach pretty much all GSM carriers.

If you have a GSM mobile phone (which is pretty much all mobile phones outside of the US and Korea, and some phones in the US too), please help us to test the coverage and speed of this system.

To test, please go here: http://www.fastmail.fm/cgi-bin/smstest.pl . Just enter your phone number, and click 'Submit'. Then come back here and let us know whether the message was received. If the message is very slow, or never arrives, follow the instructions on that page to provide us with the SMS id, so that we can follow it up with the SMS engineers to track the message.

Message ID: PoOzN8y8WEoAAHGNCA8 arrived within a minute to Verizon Wireless in the US. (SMS +1207-522-XXXX)

Edit: Just thought I'd note that VZW in the US isn't GSM, its CDMA, so very cool.

That *is* interesting...

PS: No need to include the SMS ID in your post if your test SMS arrived in good time - we only need that if there is a problem with delivery.

I think all the mobile phones in the USA have email-to-phone text messaging. Even if GSM doesn't work, email-to-phone works. The difference being the sender having to match phone number to mobile provider to email address. Example.

Message took about 5 seconds to arrive.

I'm on the Malaysian Telco Digi and am currently roaming on Optus in Melbourne.

Still doesn't work for the Netherlands. The error message I got was:

Quote:
Country: Netherlands (31); Number: 6xxxxxxxxx

An error occured while sending your SMS. The error was:

Send failed: invalid number

Click 'back' on your browser to try again, or let us know about the error (including the full error message above) if you can not resolve it.
But I used the correct number and thought I would try again.

When I tried again I got the following message:

Quote:
An error occured while sending your SMS. The error was:

We have already tested the number '316xxxxxxx'

Works great for Indonesian two major networks:
1. Telkomsel: +62 812 xxxxxxx, 1 second
2. Satelindo: +62 815 xxxxxxx, 5 seconds
