Hopefully a new beginning.
It has been a long, long, time, since anything new and exciting, has appeared on the scene. I am hopeful

David: do you know if it's some Ladar Levison project again or maybe the NSA?

Can you share where Lavabit has its servers? On US soil wouldn't be much good, especially after tomorrow.

Yah, Lavabit.com itself appears to be hosted in the US, so that doesn't give much hope to the whole "private" aspect of their email services, but we'll see what comes in 20 hours...

likewise, not liking paying (half price) AND giving all my details to lavabit which is as far as we can tell under US legal scrutiny. In the name of privacy and freedom he could have put bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies as standard.
Also, He's had the email data of his users all this time? OMG EEK! |

Thanks but no thanks. I don't like the fact that the servers are in the U.S.

It works fine. I followed the instructions for setting up an email client, and my old account came back perfectly. There's no web interface anymore -- you must use an email client.

No more Free Lavabit accounts?
Still doesn't work for me.
I only had a free account for many years. I see on the sign up page pay accounts but no more free ones. Does this mean all my old meaningless emails are gone forever? |

Works Now for free account
Now working with my old free account, both with POP & IMAP (OE & WLM)
To me this was just another free email account that no spam was received at. I've got nothing to hide so security means almost nothing to me. |
