E4ward anti-spam and forwarding

Here's a new service:

E4ward - anti-spam and forwarding.

I used to love bumpymail. However, I started getting nasty spam at my member fastmail account (the address I used there) after I started using bumpymail. Before I never got spam there. So I am not using bumpymail any longer...

e4ward has no direct spam prevention

I've been using this service for awhile, haven't experienced any problems.

One note, there is no direct anti spam functionality. It has subdomain functionality, helpful for tracking which service sold you out, and but it doesn't directly prevent spam.

In defense of Bumpymail, I've got to say that after using it extensively, I've never noticed spam.

I've also been using E4ward for some time, and use three personal domains with it. Their methods seem quite effective and reliable.

I have my domains set up with a catchall through them. Then, if I start getting spam on one of the addresses, I just configure the address to bounce.

It's very fast and efficient, easy to handle and free

there were discussions about this service before

http://www.emaildiscussions.com/...ghlight=e4ward

There's just one little thing.....the reply doesn't work with all email providers
For example if I get a forwarded message through e4ward into my web.de inbox, the sender will appear like this

user*webmail.com*xxxxx*xxxxx.e4ward.com*77D*4qes*3@reply.e4ward.com

web.de unfortunately doesn't allow to reply to such an weird email-address like that

Yes it could be a coincidence. I'm not sure. I never gave out that particular fastmail account address. But once I used it for Bumpymail for a couple of months - I was ok. Then the spam just started coming in at about 2 a day. I'm afraid it's going to explode and innundate my member account.. :-( I was so careful with that account and never gave it out till bumpymail. So that was the conclusion I drew.

If you sing up there as user "trew" the aliases will be
for example

private@trew.e4ward.com
mailbox@trew.e4ward.com
news.ebay@trew.e4ward.com
mail.amazon@trew.e4ward.com

etc..

only messages to this addresses will be forwarded to your prime email address.
other addresses like anythingelse@trew.e4ward.com will be bounced back to the sender automatically, if one of the aliases get spammed you just exchange it.

Voi I even failed to make a question correct.

Not your fault. Thanks indeed for doing it soo short and consistent. But it fail to answer my question.

I did get that part. I tried to ask what happens when
they logically write to the most obvious address to write to?

trew@e4ward.com

ok I get it. that one end up to a very big spam collector trashbin and not get forwared to me I guess.

Did I get that one right now? Feeling very embarrassed.

This thread made me think of using e4ward again so yesterday I set up Host Tracker to watch the site for reliaibilty.

I've no way yet of knowing whether this is typical but on the first day of watching I had:

"Url was down as a resultat of:

Http error:502

Error was detected at 2005-04-03 23:18:10

Downtime total 8 hour(s) 16 min(s) 39 sec(s)."

Doesn't seem like a good start, though.

If they have a rep here maybe ...

he or she could tell us ifthat was a planned downtime.

I 'm soo lucky that my glocalnet.net account give me almost infinite alias in crude way if I limit my behavior to have 5 at a time and drop one of them if I need a new one. Seems enough for my usage of email. Spray.se allow you to create new account too if it get spammed.

Hm, didn't notice anything, guess I was sleeping then.

Is there a way to find out for how long or how many times a service has been down in a year? That would be interesting too.

I have to admit that my english/german/italian/french doesn't help me trying out this two swedish providers you mentioned, it was easier to sign up at mail.ru

E4ward.com had 2 recent service interruptions on 3/31 and 4/3 (detailed here). My apologies to any E4ward.com users here who were affected.

During these outages, users could not update their accounts, but mail delivery was NOT affected thanks to redundant mail servers on multiple hosting providers. Mail delivery has been virtually continuous since the beginning of service.

Prior to 3/31,uptime for the web site was also measured in months, so your experience of yesterday was not typical.
