Email polling
Hi
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've just uploaded an email polling system. What it does is open a new small window that you can leave on your desktop minimised. Every 15 minutes it refreshes and changes the window title to the number of new/total number of messages in your inbox. That way to can see at a glance if you've got any new messages at FastMail. You can access it from the Preferences screen for the moment while we test it out. Tell us what you think. Rob |

I love it Rob! I'm at a client site behind a firewall at the moment so I can't use IMAP. I miss my IMAP... But with your new notification thingy I can still see when my messages arrive!
And I love the new colored buttons. I keep logging in just to see them! |

Very nice. Can it minimize to the systray so I don't have the radio button visible in the task bar?

I doubt that there's any support in HTML for the systray, since it's a Windows specific function. We'll keep our eyes open for such a function though.
Although it actually works very well in the task bar--it shows you the #unread/#messages in the title of the task bar item! |

I'm using ICQ to be notified about new e-mail. Just setup Automatic notification rule to send notification to <yourICQUIN>@pager.icq.com for all messages (for text matching "*" ).
It's working fine but there is question: Is it possible to send notification without message body (a lot of junk in the message if it is in the HTML format... Just replace message body with something like "You have new mai from ...@... with subject ...." and send this message from e-mail like "MAILER-DAEMON@fastmail.com"? |

Radio button? Where? I can't find it. All I see in the taskbar is just a minimised IE window. |

We've got some notification code set up, but we're waiting on our IMAP server developers to fix a little bug in their code before we roll it out. The notification code will eventually work with IM, SMS, pager, and email (just subject and 1st bit of body sent). |

The IMAP server issue is simply that at the moment every message would get sent through our notification code even if no notification is required. It's easy to make it only get called for the subset of messages that require it, and we're hoping to sed this incorporated into a future version of the IMAP server.

I'm attempting to use this feature...it sounds awesome but I click on the link and a window opens very quickly...and then is gone.
Any ideas? |

Great feature)
Thanks! Maybe you could add another option of refreshing every 5 minutes?... I mean, in order to take advantage of Fastmail's speed, I think a 5 minute interval between refreshing would be great |
