Found a new one...French/Belgian service...

https://www.newmanity.com

the web email is from Zimbra...works OK....even to AOL.recipients..hahahahaha

it#s free....but you can donate 5 euros. AFAIK the storage is 10 gigs. To my surprise the servers were based in The Netherlands!

server settings are here:

thanks Dutchie
I really like zimbra, I'll have to check it out
edit: storage is 1Gb, but that is more than enough for me
wish they hadn't removed all the other theme options though, purple isn't my favorite color

Do you have any experience with mail.ie or mail.fr? Do you know stuff like storage capacity, inactivity limit, how long they've been around already, ... ?

Those two particularly interest me: I used to live in Ireland in the past, and French language mail services are obviously interesting for us Belgians.

AFAIK it is still free. It is free to register and to use. You CAN however donate 5 euros.

Monday I successfully opened accounts at both Scientillion and Yandex. When I checked both yesterday to tie them to a forwarding service (spamgourmet), the Scientillion account was disabled, so it fails the test, and gets a big fat 'F-' in my gradebook! My account at Yandex was still working, and checked it again just now...will review it in six months if it doesn't flake out.

Why you think Yandex is going to " flake out"??? because it's Russian?? Mind you Yandex is a very big company and their (free) email service is very very good. If you realy try it you will notice that. I for my part like it way more then Gmail/Outlook. I do not even mention the lousy service from AOL or Yahoo here.

You should also try mail.ru...another great Russian product.

I am sick and tired of the snooping arround in my emails. So personaly I use Yandex and mail.ru. So happy with it.

btw Scientillion didn't work for me either. I could sign up...but I could not log in afterwards...very strange....iow it's useless.

cheers

Dutchie.

ps: and NO I not get paid to write this,-)

In my eternal quest for finding free email accounts all over the world I found a new free Danish provider...and I did not need a danish cellphone numer or Danish IP to sign up.

http://www.mail-online.dk/

Their interface is free of ads and be put in many languages...!! In the beginning they only give 10 mbs storage but that grows if you need more..to a max of whooping 10 gigs!

At http://sol.dk/user/register i found another free Danish emailservice...but uptill now I could not try that.

Dutchie.

ps: one day I hope to make it in the guiness book of records with the person who has the most free email accounts that are working:-)

Dutchie, did you read the TOS? After initial sign-up the account is only free for a three-month trial period. After that, you must upgrade to a paid account or your account will be deleted.

No, I suspect it may flake out because its a free webmail account. In the last five years or so I've seen 'privacyharbor', 'bigstring', 'sacmail', 'USmail', and a host of others either go out of business, disable my accounts, switch to pay-for-play, or otherwise go wonky. I like Yandex, and hope it will stay around, but I'm not holding my breath. We will see how it is in six months!

If you want privacy, try to wrangle an invite from 'protonmail.com'. If you want super duper privacy, get T.A.I.L.S. Linux or TOR Browser Bundle, explore the Darknet,, and look for an email provider there.

Yandex has been around for many years. I don't think it's going away anytime soon. Isn't it something like google for Russia?
I don't know how old my account is but its been bulletproof.
