Searching for and Removing duplicates from folder...
There used to be an option to search for and remove duplicate messages from folders...
Is this now gone? Thanks /cl |

As you write, it does appear to be gone.
By default, Fastmail will suppress duplicates within a folder on delivery. I appreciate that this is not the same functionality. I believe the ability to find duplicates ought to be available within advanced search (but it is not). I cannot find any way of doing this through the Fastmail interface now. If you really need to do a dedup, you will need to do it from a client. Thunderbird has this functionality. If you have no other use for a mail client, there is a Python tool that can do it. That would probably be my choice. |

Hmmm.... This is disappointing. Fastmail has sold me on the whole 'webmail' experience, and I use webmail and their app exclusively. I don't know what it might take to do a search across 20 years of emails, 100,000 in my primary archive alone, to find duplicates...
Again, that the functionality is gone, is disappointing. |

Curiously, I found that if you follow this link
https://www.fastmail.com/go/cleanfolders It leads you back to the login page. After logging in, the old page with delete/archive/remove duplicates appears. |

How do I see the duplicates identified?
Just found this useful thread, I have run the Fastmail tool as in the link above, I ran it and it has identified duplicates however I cant see them.
I would like to see them before I delete them, am I missing something obvious ?? TIA |

Use the option to pin duplicates. Then, go to the message list and choose to see only pinned messages. This will only work if you do not use pinning of messages for long periods for other reasons. I personally only ever pin messages for a short while when I want to be able to easily access them later.

This might not be a feature you use everyday but it comes handy when things happened. Like recently I accidentally turned on gmail's pop3 once again and my inbox got swarmed by thousands of messages, most of which belonged to the Trash. Unfortunately the conversation view in mf FM was turned on when I deleted the old gmail messages, so the ones I archived carefully in various folders were also moved to trash. I restored the ones sent to the said gmail account but I ended up with many duplicates, not to mention the junks that got retrieved back from gmail. |

I've been doing a research on email providers and got on this forum. Could you guys recommend any other provider except Fastmail/Gmail? I'm looking for a fully-encrypted mailbox that could have a monthly fee -I'm ok with that. Just want to have all the features like calendar, tasks, etc., but without tracking and ads Thanks. |
