Does changing username affect previously created app passwords?
If I (as an administrator) change my username (for login) as outlined here https://www.fastmail.com/help/accoun...eusername.html, will it affect the app passwords for my account which were created prior to this?
Will they get disabled or will I have to use my new login id with the same app passwords? How does this work? |

I wouldn't think a new app password would have to be generated, but only the new user-id would have to be updated in the 3rd party program, so I tested this to see.
After testing this out I found a new app password DOES NOT need to be generated, but of course the user-id does need to be changed in the 3rd party program that uses that particular app password. In the 3rd party email client that I use along with the web interface, the new user-id had to be updated, and the current (or original) app password needed to be input again. Different programs will act, differently, but a new app password does not need to be generated. - Bruce |
