Openmailbox.org New Signups
Hello,
Does anyone know when or if openmailbox.org will be allowing new signups? TIA |

I didn't know they had stopped! I don't login very often, but I was there a week ago and there was no notice or other communication (old or new) from management in the inbox about changes or difficulties. I suppose someone only discovers that new accounts are not available when an attempt is made to open one. Does it say anywhere why they stopped accepting new registrations, or what that may mean for the future of the service?

Try going to https://www.openmailbox.org/index and clicking on "Register Now" at the bottom, or go directly to https://www.openmailbox.org/#register and try from there.
I didn't take the final step toward creating a new account because I don't need another one, but there was nothing on either page to indicate that registrations are closed. If you want one, try creating an account and let us know if you succeed! |

I found this answer (dated July 21st) on OpenMailBox forum.
Hello, We are going to reopen registration in a few day, we disabled them due to a technical issue. Regards, Openmailbox support team |

In the meanwhile we are almost 1 year further.
From December 2016 until now, no new signups are possible, the forum is down and support questions are not answered. I think it's pretty safe to say that service is dead |

OpenMailBox.org is not dead
Not dead at all! I don't know about the availability of new accounts or what's going on with the forum, but after reading your post I went and logged in at my webmail account and everything worked fine, no problem. The inbox contained a fairly recent message with the usual annual fund appeal for donations to the service, and everything else seems normal.

I have an account with that service, and while I am able to successfully send and receive emails with it, I can't say whether new registration is problematic or not.

OPMB is down?
After a long time without news and keeping users in a vacuum like space all their services are down with a strange announce that they are updating software. Funny that they never announced this and had decided to close the forum and never answered from the support account.

They changed the URL of their webmail from https://openmailbox.org/webmail to https://app.openmailbox.org.

The site seems very slow. As this isn't my main email provider (by far), I'm not really bothered.

As of yesterday, IMAP/SMTP access disabled for existing free accounts. Another one bites the dust...
