Tag Lines

Heyall,

I'm a proud-to-be Fastmail Member. I remember the olden days in which I was still a Guest, and the witty Taglines that I used to end my mails with... I miss them! I don't wanna downgrade (of course) but I'd love to spread the word about Fastmail again.

Could there be some option that allows Member/full/enhanced users to re-enable the taglines? (And while we're at it make it personality-related, so that my semi-professional mail does not get it, but my personal mail does)

Greets,

A nostalgic Fastmail Member

PS: And no, I don't wanna add it in my signature, I liked the fact that they were randomly selected.

I have a good 50 signatures (because I'm a dork, that's why), and I have a bunch of fastmail taglines on all but my business/school signatures...I've got so many sigs I don't remember which tagline is attached to which sig, so it's a surprise every time

But I wouldn't mind an optional tagline either. Don't need it, but wouldn't be unhappy if it was there, either.

Is there a list of the taglines somewhere?  Some people who use their own mail client for sending, and can have random sigs, may want to use some or all of them...

I trimmed them down a bit, because we were actually getting emails from people concered about the unprofessional natures of some of them. Personally I like the "Don't use fastmail (I like feeling special)", but quite a few people didn't seem to get it and assumed we must have been hacked!

Anyway, here's the current list, all quite straight, but I guess they get to the point as well.

What happened to "Sent 0.000002 seconds ago"? That was my all-time favourite! Please don't tell me you trimmed it out as well?

I agree--there's some really nice one's missing... I hope we've got a backup of the original...

one of mine that was used. I can look up others in my sent items. Doesn't seem "unprofesssional" to me!

True but if you're sending a resume or some other type of business correspondence, tag lines are considered unprofessional--at least that's what I've been told.

Well, at least FM's tag lines aren't crass or boorish like the ones Alta Vista used to have: For the best shopping deals contact www.altavista.com/shopping. Now that's what I call unprofessional!

Oh, I agree that tag lines are not REALLY professional, generally speaking. I have never used one and probably never will, but I thought the implication was that the unprofessional tag lines had been dropped and the better (more acceptable) ones kept.

My all time favorite tag line

Hrm. Taglines only appear on Guest Accounts, so I think that them being Unprofessional adds more to the push-factor to upgrade to a Member level. By the way, is "business correspondence" something that is counted under Commercial Use?

What happened to the "Does exactly what it says on the tin" one?  That was my favourite (not only because I suggested it!), and didn't strike me as "unprofessional"...

Hey Rob

Any chance you could post the so called "less professional" ones for us to enjoy? Although I currently have a Guest account I never realized they changed. Guess I never noticed since I don't email me

I know they're all fairly boring, but we were getting a noticeable number of queries each week about some of the other ones.

On the other hand, if you happen to see this at the bottom of an email post, which is more likely to pique your interest?

or

Personally, the first tells me exactly what I want to hear, the second just sounds like a jingle from a cereal packet. Hmmm, on the other hand, you might argue that maybe your jaded about hearing the first because "everyone" says that, while the second is a bit different and makes you wonder what it's about...

*sigh*
