New web interface available (BETA)
I'm sure we'll have something to talk about now:
The new web interface is now available to anyone bold enough to use the beta site, https://beta.fastmail.fm/, according to the FM blog. Who'll find the first bug? :-) -Peter |

Hello, Peter
Since you mention it, I'm taking a cautious peek. The first thing I notice is that in the regular site all my IMAP deleted emails are shown in strikethrough font. In the beta they remain there with all the other posts with no differentiation and no obvious way to get rid. It's possible I missed the point somewhere. |

Doesn't work for me. I get the "loading" page, but nothing else. My browser is giving this error:

"Move to" folder list runs off the screen
I have many folders and in the new interface the "Move to" command uses a dropdown which does not seem to support scrolling, so I can't move to folders down the bottom of the list as they are off the screen. The older interface was easier to use (although harder to understand initially).

I like the new interface, and the keyboard shortcuts are easier to work with as well.
Just one question, is it possible to turn off conversation mode? I'd like to see (and delete/move) single messages only please. |

Here's another bug: When I log into the web interface from my iPhone and try to switch to the full interface, I get an error. Can't remember what it says right now, sorry.

I tested on an Acer D250 that is a small Netboot 10" and
it looks modern and most likely as you wanted. I don't use Fastmail often enough to give a good report. I can wild guess that the old users prefer the old interface and that new users would prefer this new one. But that is only my wild guess and I am lousy at "design" I totally accept or find to be very odd almost all kinds of interfaces. So I am a hit and miss advice guy Anyway the biggest problem is to get paying customers at all. One need to get reputation as high as possible and then live up to the hype. Mouth to mouth maybe????? |
