Gmail issues
I don't even know how to describe what I need to fix in the form of a question. I have two email accounts. One shows as such:
John Smith johnsmith@gmail.com The other shows as such: johnrsmith@gmail.com I want the last one to show as such: John R Smith johnrsmith@gmail.com I cannot find a way to make this change. Any help would be appreciated. |

I guess you want your second account to show "John R Smith" as your real name. If so, read this.
For future reference: there is a section of this forum dedicated to Gmail issues. |

User ID not showing when accounts are displayed
It does show my user id when I send out emails, but if I pull up my accounts, it does NOT show my user id above the email address. That is what I am trying to get fixed

Do you mean you want to see "John R Smith" in the field marked yellow here?
Click My Account then Your personal info in the panel on the right. |

That IS what I am trying to change. I've been where you are directing me and I still cannot see how I can change that. The NAME field is completed correctly. It is almost like something that when being set up, if it is not done, that I am now stuck with it. Just like my preference would be to change the use of upper or lower case in the email address, which I know is not case sensitive, but it will not let me do it, either.

Here is a trick.
Go to Settings, Accounts and Import, "Add another email address you own." Put in the display name you want and then add a variant of the Gmail address with dots. For example, John R Smith with the address john.r.smith@gmail.com Leave Treat As Alias checked. Make that alias your default from address. You can even select it to be the standard for all replies. The dots in the name will not affect the delivery of email, but Gmail will allow you to create this alias for readability. It may be easier than changing your name in Google Accounts. |
