Recommendations for NEW E-mail Service
Hello,
I have been using the same e-mail service Mailsnare.net since 2002. I can no longer tolerate the poor customer service, etc. from this company any longer. My subscription to this service ends in September 2010 and I have no plans of renewing with this company. What are people using these days for an e-mail service? Any recommendations (both paid and free) for a NEW e-mail service would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help David |

ST123 made a good list. I will personally vouch for Fastmail. I'm in my third year of using them (with Enhanced level), and I have not had any issues whatsoever. I have been continually impressed with their fast and responsive customer service, and the overall product they provide.
For me, the major selling points of fastmail are being able to customize my service with different levels, add different aliases, host my own domains, file storage, etc. Completely worth my money! I've had about a dozen friends and family switch to Fastmail, and no one has regretted it. cheers and good luck! |

I second that. Don't be discouraged by the outdated homepage. A new one is under construction (at least, that's what they say).

I think,
Someone has forgotten to mention Webmail.us/Mailtrust and now it is http://www.rackspace.com/email_hosting I am using them from last three years, they are just excellent, 24 hrs support, almost 99.99% uptime too. I recommend them for all usages. |

A lot may depend on what you expect from a mail provider and how you hope to use the service. The list above is short enough that you can probably evaluate each of them against your intentions and preferences. Or you could say something about what's important to you in a mail service and you'll probably get a little more insight back in the replies.

I can personally recommend Fastmail for those criteria, with the caveat that you'll need to decide whether your requirements, "Ability to add e-mail storage space" and "A decent file attachment size" are adequately met by Fastmail's current offerings at the account level you're considering.
If, by "Multiple mailboxes..." you mean literally multiple inboxes, you'll need a separate account for each. Consider a business or family account group in that case. If you mean most anything else you can get a very useful approximation to it with aliases and personalities and the using the excellent Sieve filtering to pre-sort your incoming mail. You can even use a POP client to pull mail from a folder other than the Inbox. There's a lot of flexibility available there. Good luck with your choice. |

ah, chuckster. Aside from the occasional post about gmail, I believe all of your posts seem to bash Fastmail. I'm quite sure every email service has had downtime. At least with Fastmail, there are real people that can be contacted to help. I've never heard of anybody receiving a personal response (or any response, for that matter) at gmail. It's really OK if you prefer a different service, we don't mind |
