Can't you hook up some listeners bramhall?

I like this freeware that gives me access to practically zillions of radio stations accross the planet:
http://www.screamer-radio.com/

I'm been into the Celtic stuff lately (don't like the rockier versions) and it's fun to listen to the old stuff that you can never find on any radio station.

JeffK,

That is a wonderful link!
Thanks for sharing.
Hope you're not too bothered by the smoke from the burning forests where you are.

I wouldn't run out and spend for better speakers in too big a hurry. The sound quality of the free content is audibly distorted if you listen closely - not unusably so, it is decent enough - but if you're listening to the music as opposed to playing it as background, you'll probably notice.

I'm not panning the service - they do what they do well. Just a head-up.

I think musicovery is the best I've seen so far - but I think the Music Genome Project™ http://www.pandora.com deserves a mention.

IMHO websites like this and musicovery are going to wipe traditional radio broadcasting off the map and they could even undermine big-label music distributers.

I like these stations because I don't like DJ's talking and jingles between - and sometimes over - my music; I despise the noise pollution caused by advertising; and most of all - the editorial power is in the listener's hands (vis-à-vis corporate-leaning broadcast channels.)

A tip for music lovers who have bands or friends in bands: Read
http://blog.pandora.com/faq/#31 "Can I send you my band's music?"
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/cust...ml?nodeId=3908 "Amazon.co.uk Label, Artist and Music Sellers Guide"
Find any any local CD printing service that will include stamping on a UPC code, then you have a home based way of distributing your own band's music without having to discuss any contract with any "manager" or "plugger".

Now if you're good musician - and I mean REALLY GOOD - I recommend reading up on licensing and royalty issues. In GB I found the BMR the most useful starting place. Link: http://www.bmr.org/page/about-us .

I'm sure that anyone could easily sell thousands of CD's which only cost a £, $, or € each to duplicate and mail direct to the customer who has even paid for it's P&P. If £10, $10 or €10, is a reasonable price to ask for your music, then you should see the opportunity for it being quite profitable!

The cheaper it is for home based and cottage industry music producers to get their music transmitted to an audience - the better it is for music lovers! And for music writers, if you're good, and I mean REALLY GOOD... I'm begging you to go live this way so I can find you!

Regards.. Nodisalsi.

IM Even Humbler O that's a bit too far-fetched, but having an alternative source of music of the type you like is certainly Very Good

I am a fan of pandora personally. Be careful, I have found that services like these can raise you're music bill.

I tried Pandora, and also Last.fm, but Finetune's what I like best dantheman. I'm Gankaku over there if anyone wants to check out my selection of playlists. Let me know if you add me and what your ID is so I can check out your playlists too.

Excellent find, JeffK. I'll definitely be having a listen.

I was going to recommend Finetune which I discovered yesterday, but dantheman beat me to it.
