Smilies when using Fastmail in browser

I cannot see that Fastmail on the Web readily gives a way to enter Smilies when composing.

1) Is it there, but I'm just missing it? If so where?

2) If not, is there a slick way to enter them from elsewhere other than by cut and paste from an outside site? Is there an extension or some other easy way to insert them?

I know it's present in the Android app and can be used in a client such as Betterbird, but I'd like to use it on the Web if possible .

in Windows OS, one can use the Windows button + . (period button) to get the OS smiley and special symbol entry dialog.
Other OS's might have their own dialog or keyboard extensions.

That's a brilliant suggestion, hadaso. Thanks. I use Firefox on Win 11 just now. You've taught me something about Windows I hadn't figured out!

I used that Windows thing for entering special symbols for a while, but stopped because I didn't really like it much. It's probably better for smileys, because it defaults to the smileys tab.
I often use this website that allows to search for the right symbols (including smileys) by their descriptio (for instance try to type "heart" and scroll down).

Wow, thank you for that fantastically useful link! (mclean.net.nz/ucf) The thing even works backwards, I've just found - i.e. if you paste a character in the big box it tells you what it is.

Another thing I use is abcTajpu. It's a Firefox extension that provides character sets for many languages. I don't use it for that capability, but for its feature that allows me to build my own collections, so if I find out that I use some character more than a few times I add it to my collection, and then it's available in three clicks. Mozilla says that the extension is no longer monitored for security, but I installed it many years ago. I haven't found anything equivalent for chrome (that I must use at work. Either Chrome or Edge, or IE).

In Fastmail help you can see the Windows and Mac emoji shortcuts at the bottom of the keyboard shortcuts page:

In iOS the emoji keyboard choice is visible when using the on-screen keyboard. When using a Bluetooth external keyboard use the “fn” or shift-control-space function key pop-up to choose the language. I have English, Εmoji, and classical Greek (for use in mathematical and engineering applications) choosable from that pop-up. The iOS emoji keyboard does have a search feature, so you can search for “hand” for example.
