Why should it be an issue?

My Apple ID is @mydomain so its definitely no problem at all . If you would like to use iCloud Mail you will be able to add an additional @icloud.com email address to the account without problem as well and login with either.

I use. For more than one AppleID account.

No problem to me until now.

Due to the need of using Facetime I'm forced to have an iPad. I would certainly not like to have an icloud email address (or whatever Apple has). I use x@mydomain as my Apple ID. No problems encountered.
