Twitter & Internet Explorer
Anyone know what's up with Internet Explorer & Twitter? Earlier this week I was able to access the mobile Twitter on my laptop, as usual, then the same day a few hours later, The status shows 'Connecting' for a literally a split second, & then I get the message
'Internet Explorer Cannot Display Web Page.' Despite mutiple attempts to log on to Twitter from IE for the past four days, I keep receiving the same error message. I deleted all cookies, browsing history & the like, in Internet Options. I even downloaded a more recent IE, & still am unable to log on to the Twitter website. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue, or may have any suggestions as to how to solve the situation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

IE is not currently officially supported by Twitter:
https://help.twitter.com/en/using-tw...orted-browsers Are you using IE11? It might work with the latest version. https://help.twitter.com/en/using-tw...twitter-issues Sometimes the browser security settings prevent certain web pages from being displayed. But IE is pretty old and nonstandard compared with modern browsers. I haven’t used IE in quite a while, so I can’t try this myself. Bill |

No. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium with IE 9. I know it's an older web browser, however I haven't attempted to download any of the newer IE's, as I don't know if anything higher than IE 9 will operate on my computer properly. Is there a way to adjust the settings of IE 9 so as to be able to gain access to Twitter?

I don't think Chrome will install on Vista. Vivaldi version 1.0 will, it uses the same engine as Chrome:-

I would suggest trying a live Linux distro on your laptop, check it works OK, then wipe the Windows Vista OS completely.
It should give an old laptop a new lease of life. |

Thanks for the suggestions. However, I'm apprehensive as to deleting Vista & downloading a program I have never heard of. I've done a search & found a few web browsers which apparently will run on my current operating system. Several of which are ones that I have heard of, however I don't recall the options on the list, or which ones to consider for download. Any suggestions in that regard would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into that. I'm assuming that the Firefox to which you are referring compatible with Windows Vista I've heard about Opera, Pale Moon, & Safari. Are any of them compatible with Windows Vista?

I sign in to Twitter sometimes via Microsoft Edge (which is de facto the follow-up to Internet Explorer), sometimes via Mozilla Firefox. Works flawless for me. If IE doesn't work for you, maybe try MS Edge.

I used to use the Windows Vista OS, and I believe it and Palemoon are still compatible. I know that Palemoon and Windows XP aren't compatible, although a Palemoon user created a fork of that browser that will work with XP. That browser has a community forum at forum.palemoon.org if you want to verify.
