Can Thunderbird 60 use U2F with Fastmail?
https://www.fastmail.com/help/account/2fa.html mentions using U2F with Google Chrome and Firefox 58 browsers but doesn't mention the possibility of using it with a email client. Thunderbird 60.0 supposedly supports FIDO U2F according to the release notes and https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1444101. I've verified that security.webauth.u2f defaults to true.
Before I buy a U2F key I thought I'd ask if anybody has gotten it to work since the person implementing the code appears to have never actually tested using it with a email account, they tested it with the U2F conformance test suite at https://u2f.bin.coffee/ ,but stated that "Google would then need to make sure their login flow accommodates Thunderbird users with U2F tokens." |

I have no idea. Have you tried asking Fastmail support? They might have tested it.

I got a reply to my support ticket:
"We currently do not support this. We hope to support this in the future, but don't have any timeline on this now, sorry." |
