Currently it redirects to msn homepage. This is not the case years ago..

I'll bite.

What was the case years ago?

(and why not just use msn? ... not that I would use msn as my homepage)

I think years ago it actually linked to something called "Internet Start", but not anymore.

Currently it is the same as this one:

http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir...r=6&ar=msnhome

which is MSN home...

Most of the time, though, I use Mozilla, which doesn't have this problem.
Strange, Apple has historically not set the default home page to be apple.com. It used to be something like apple.excite.com and now netscape.com/oem/apple. Check your Internet system preference. IE should use whatever is set in there as your default home page.

Okay, you guys convinced me.

I've made a custom start page of my own and now it's set to:

C:\start.html

I've also duplicated it here:

http://sfeuro.com/s

which really comes in handy when I travel.

That's a great idea. Everything you need, all on one page.

One suggestion for editing that nifty start page: change the target of your FastMail.FM link to /mail{x}, where {x} is your server number. That will result in one less redirect, and therefore you'll log in faster.

Also, if you use secure login, make the link https, again to remove one redirect.

from yahoo! to google

I think I already responded to this poll as a Yahoo! homepage user.

But a couple of days ago I switched to Google.

WHat do I use as my home page?

I use www.ibcsweb.com
I use it because I can put all the links to everything I like on it. I also have links to all my email sign on pages as well as a discussion forum. Got tiered of waiting to find a page with everything I wanted and no adverts. Put Google search onthere to so it pretty much covers everything I need.

I started using this one for IE and other IE based browsers: http://www.atstart.org/

It's a downloadable exe that lets you build your own start page that you keep just on your local machine, has a tab for news and you can select a page as a Homepage on the web for the third tab. I like it because my husband and son can both put in their own links and I don't have to update and upload anything every time they want to make a change. Of course, they haven't actually done that yet, but in theory, they could.
