Problems with outgoing emails

Hello there!

I'm testing FastMail with my custom domain. I have configured correctly the DNS settings and under the tab "Domains" everything is green checked. I have bought the domain using NameCheap.

Using the Fastmail web application (to exclude client configuration error) I can only receive the e-mail but If I send one the receiving does not receive anything not even in the spam folder.

In summary:

From other providers to FastMail everything is OK
From FastMail to other providers the outgoing mail is not delivered or sometimes the emails are delivered after hours...

I have noticed that the problem is when the emails pass by new3-smtp.messagingengine.com.

Have you got any suggestions?

Let me know!

Thanks

Possibly some ideas in this previous thread would be helpful: http://www.emaildiscussions.com/showthread.php?t=79101

And, also this blog post on Fastmail: https://fastmail.blog/advanced/what-...-spam-folders/

It looks as if there are dedicated smtp clients for new customers, and they might be blocked by some major email providers, perhaps because some new customers manged to send some spam out before being caught...

I have rechecked the DNS configurations and all seems ok... Maybe have I to edit the suggested records by FastMail for my custom domain?

I have got the same impression! Unfortunately, in this way, I cannot evaluate the services (continue I to subscribe with FM or other providers?) when the delivery delay is 4 hours for a very very simple test e-mail.

Am I right in thinking that you have tried to set the DNS records at NameCheap (directing the MX records at Fastmail's servers) rather than parking your domain at Fastmail, and letting Fastmail do the heavy lifting of ensuring things like DMARC are set correctly?

Unless you have special reasons for keeping the DNS at NameCheap (or another DNS service) it is usually preferable to use Fastmail for the DNS. Ensuring optimal settings on the DNS records for email these days is harder than most people realise, and allowing Fastmail to do it automatically is usually the best policy.

In the setting of Fastmail I can read that I'm using the recommended DNS settings. I don't understand what could be the problem.

This is an intestation of email that was delivered after 2 hours.

Last internal delivery at Gmail at 14:06:14 -0700 which is 21:06:14
So total delay is 11 minutes and 24 seconds from submission to final delivery.

The gap is between these two Received headers:
Code:

All the other delivery steps are instantaneous.
It may be a few minutes delay on Fastmail's side. It may be greylisting on Gmail's side.

These are Gmail's authentication results:
Code:
Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of ................. designates 66.111.4.224 as permitted sender) client-ip=66.111.4.224;
Authentication-Results: mx.google.com;
       dkim=neutral (expired) header.i=@..............;
       dkim=neutral (expired) header.i=@............;
       spf=pass (google.com: domain of ................. designates 66.111.4.224 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=....................
Perhaps the "expired" dkim is the cause?

Are there any ways to renew the DKIM? Or have I to ask to Fastmail support?

Thanks

Edit: I've since noticed you don't have a DMARC record, I suggest you create one.

Hello guys,

I have solved the problem at the moment also with Fastmail support. There were two reasons:

1) the new accounts and domains are subjects of hard filter spam for the first times
2) it was missing the DMARK record on DNS

Thank you very much for your help!

This is a great forum!
