Push IMAP for IOS.

Hi,

Just a note for anybody trying to enable this Push mail in IMAP blog post , you need to delete and re-add your account to get it to work properly. (at least that was my experience).

BTW - big kudos to the FM team for doing this

Interesting. Are you using the iOS9 beta? I've got one report of it not working on 9, and that was solved the same way.

I just checked my account settings and all accounts have automatically been switched to push.

FastMail is simply the best. Thanks a lot!

Edit: Worked here without re-adding the account. I just set the method from 15 min interval to push.

Thanks. We'll keep tracking the issue but I'm hoping that in a few days most people will have it sorted out and there won't be anything to worry about.

I just tried it on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.4 and it's working great. Thank you for this, fm!

I have two FM accounts on my phone (iOS 8.4). One of them automatically switched to push; the other I had to delete and re-add.

@robn, I'm curious what the underlying technology is for this. I didn't think push was possible with IMAP because of the battery issues with IDLE.

Had to delete and re-add my account, but that's a small price to pay. Everything seems to be working great now.

What I really want is for the IOS app to offer push notifications for folders other than the Inbox. But until such a time (if ever) that we have that capability, this is a wonderful substitute!

You can do this already , settings , mail, fetch new data, fast mail account, and then you can select folders other than the inbox to be notified on.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I was talking about Fastmail's IOS app, which currently offers notifications for Inbox only. Until we get that, push for Apple's Mail App is the next best thing.

I had to switch one of my accounts to fetch and back to push to get it to work. I guess I don't need NuevaSync for my other accounts now.

Thanks to Fastmail for this nice surprise. It sounds like it took a decent amount of work with Apple to get it done.

On my iPad using the iOS 9 beta, push worked without a hitch. On my iPhone 5s I had to delete the FM account and reinstall.
