This is big news! Whoever owns it now is bound to make a killing if its the real deal.

If lavabit is still owned by the company or by its founder, then maybe the darknet has finished coding their service and we'll see what it looks like in roughly 12 days?

Curiously, Lavabit is coming back on immediately after inauguration Trump.
Interpret this as you wish. Whois still lists Registrant / Administrative & Technical Contact as Ladar Levison. See: https://darkmail.info/ Last edited by Bob D : 10 Jan 2017 at 03:14 AM. |

Wow, now that's interesting.
By the way, does anyone know where LL is? A while ago I read a lengthy article on him (if I could remember where it was, I'd post it), and afterwards I felt like sending him a small donation. But I don't do financial transactions online, and although I found two addresses, they both seemed to be dead. I'm wondering - what if Lavabit turned out to be my dream email? |

These guys are off to a bad start. Late is not a sign of professionalism.

They are up and running.
"I agree that my purchase today is non-refundable, for a future undetermined Lavabit service date at the promotional rate as mentioned above." I'll pass. They don't take bitcoin. Another "I'll pass". |

Lavabit is (as far as we know) still under US legal scrutiny.
Lavabit seems to have held onto its user's data all these years. Lavabit forces you to give your real credentials, does not provide as standard cryptocurrencies. No thank you lavabit. What you could have done: - explain how you held onto user data - whether you have given any user data to the US outside the scope of an open court of law - explain why you don't take cryptocurrencies - explain why you ask for real user credentials, verifiable by credit card - explain why you're rolling this out on US soil and on US based infrastructure |
