Thunderbird displaying HTML instead of email contents.

I posted this on Mozilla Support early in Dec but have had no response so far, despite bumping it a week or so ago. Can any one here help me?

Thunderbird is displaying some emails incorrectly. In some cases I see a screenful of HTML code and not the message. A message list will show empty headers. In other cases, I get the wrong content to a message.

This happens with the sea emails on three different PC's - two Macs and one Windows PC. The Macs are running TB 68 and the PC is on 78. I have deleted the profile and created a new one on each system and the problem still persists.

Neither webmail nor Airmail on the Mac have any problems with the same messages.
