Per RFC's requirement, MX should be a FQDN name, not a direct IP addr. |

I like to experiment with "exotic" ccTLD's, and it doesn't get much more exotic than this one ; nice domain!!

I'm surprised the domain was actually available. I would have assumed that in (almost) every ccTLD the domain "mail" would have long been taken.

It would be interesting to see in which ccTLD's the "mail" domain isn't registered yet. Probably in some very obscure hardly-used ccTLD's it'd still be available, although I even doubt that. The domain "mail" with regardless which ccTLD is still easy to memorise and thus attractive to register. I'd be surprised if it were available in more than just a handful of rarely used ccTLD's.
Of course to check that (over 200 ccTLD's) would be very time consuming. And of those ccTLD's where it's still available, there's probably some where restrictions would prevent registration anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if mail.aq, mail.va or mail.kp would still be available, but you cannot register those anyway. And some other ccTLDs that aren't too widely used require local presence which would make registration impossible too. |
