Airset.com - a great online PIM, now improved!
For the longest time I have been looking for a replacement of my PIM (Lotus Organizer 6). See this thread; http://www.emaildiscussions.com/showthread.php?t=38963 There are quite few in the market, but non appealed to me for one reason or another.
Thanks to Gankaku and other members, I discovered Airset which is an online - Javascript (AJAX) based - Personal Information Manager. There are too many features to mention, but the highlights are: 1. Fast, well organized and free. (Cell phone notification - $4.95 a month) 2. Calendar and contacts sharing with others. 3. Email or SMS notifications to your cell phone of upcoming events, tasks and changes. 4. 1 gig of files storage - free. 5. Links/bookmarks section - you can import from your browser. 6. Sync with Outlook, for local backup. The company has made some revisions and improvements yesterday. Check them out at http://airset.com Last edited by ReuvenNY : 9 Mar 2007 at 01:26 AM. |

It seems to be Javascript (AJAX) based, not Java, which is good.
And it's nice, especially if used by groups. |

It seems very nice from the overview presentation, but most people I want to share calendar info with already have Gmail. In what ways is this preferable to Google's Calendar?

I love Gmail, but for it's email. Airset does only one thing - PIM - and does it well. |

Last year I set up a group calendar for work and had everyone use this on Airset. It worked very well, was easy to use. Reminders were emailed or sent via cellphone never failed. I still have some personal reminders on Airset that never fail to come to my cellphone.
I like the look and feel of Airset as opposed to Google's calendar. You can keep lists, tasks and files for sharing (new) or not. Plus Support is GREAT! They are very good about getting back to you on questions/issues. The one useful feature that I find Google's calendar has that I don't think Airset's has is the capability to get the HTML for the calendar and copy and paste that into a wiki. At my current work, we've a Gmail calendar set up that contains work hours; we display that calendar in our internal wiki via html. Wouldn't mind seeing Airset implement that capability. |
