Since you only have 16 posts thus far (with a join date of 2003), is there a reason why you wouldn't want to just re-register with your preferred username ?

It may be possible -- if I recall correctly "dantheman" was originally "offmdan".

You can't do it yourself, but drop a PM to Edwin (our friendly Admin) and if he's agreeable he may do it for you.

@B4its2L8: my 16 posts/threads are important to me, don't want to have to hunt for the when searching for "my posts" in 2 separate accounts, among possibly several other reasons. Sorry to be a fuddyduddy. :-/

@robert@fm: thanks much for the info, will drop a PM to Edwin.

No apology necessary. I quite understand.

OTOH, if for some reason you aren't allowed a change of username to your present account and do decide to create a new one, you could always just bookmark this page.

Actually they should bookmark the "do=finduser&u=" link.
.../search.php?do=finduser&u=6276

A "searchid=" link will expire.

Question

All- appreciate all the bookmarks/links tricks. I probably already know all these tricks; have a very extensive bookmarks library.

Really... would like to change my username. There's as much privacy concerns as much as anything else. Sorry didn't mention this originally... but was trying to avoid saying this out-loud...for privacy concerns. So again, appreciate all the tips/tricks/suggestions, and I'm sorry to be such a pain... but really would just like to change my account name if at all possible.

(Have PM-ed Edwin accordingly...)

Perhaps depending on how great your privacy concern is, now that you have apparently succeeded in getting your name change, you may wish to consider editing out what I assume was your previous user name from your initial post of this thread.

Edwin will change usernames on request if there is a good enough reason for it. I know he has done it for a couple of people, including yours truly. I wonder if anyone can recall my original username without cheating by searching the archives for remnants of it.

I believe he already asked Edwin for the name change and the request was granted over a month ago. Why he wanted to change it is his business, methinks.
