Hmm, do you mean that the messages have no DSpam-headers at all, or are they simply not recognized as spam? Messages delivered through an alias, should be scanned by DSpam too, if they're not, it's a misconfiguration from our part.

Anyway - Dspam works by looking at every word in a message, and then checking how many times every word has been used in spam messages, and how many times they've been used in non-spam messages. It then looks at the ratio of spam/innocent words to decide if it's a spam or not. "words" includes headers, so "to:spamtrapATrunbox.com" will eventually become a notorious spamword for dspam.

When it comes to pure spamtraps, I would like to add the functionality of using them to train Dspam. It is possible to do so, but I'm just not sure how to fit it in the interface. The filter page is getting pretty large by now, so we might have to put the spam and virus-filter in a separate screen.

trond, would it help if I forwarded one of these emails to you for you to have a look at to see what I mean?

Read the first post of this thread. DSPAM is currently in beta-testing with Runbox. You don't download anything you have to request Trond to setup your account for DSPAM if you want to help with the testing.

I sent a pm to get into the test but have yet to hear from anyone. How long should I expect to wait? Been a few days already.

Thanks

Trond's last post was Aug 5th so he may not have logged into this forum since then and may not have seen the PM yet.

Will it be possible to train the filter by moving SPAM out of the inbox to a spam folder (and vice versa) via IMAP or only with the web interface?

I am willing to test

Oh, and by the way, the URL of DSPAM is giving me a 404. I think it is same as this. Seems that the domain name has expired. Any idea what happened to CVS and where has the project moved?

This is unlikely, as we're going to move to a more standardized IMAP server. Would be nifty, though.

You're now added to our list and once it's been distributed to all the MX's (within 24 hours) you can enable the trainable filter from the Filter page.

The Dspam homepage is now available again.

So, does thies mean that without the web interface there is no way to train DSPAM?
That'd be too bad as I mainly rely on IMAP.

I know what you mean, since I myself use POP - however, this is much like the current spamfilter really, since you cannot whitelist and blacklist other than from the webmail, for example.

One improvement I would like to see is a way to send a email to say

username+spam@runbox or username+ham@runbox to train the filter from our email clients instead of having to get into the webmail to do things.

It's working great I only have to deal with one or two spams a day now and it's missing less legit mail also.
