Domain Name registration?
Does Runbox also help with Domain Name registration?
Any suggestions as to which place is best to reserve my domain name? Google results godaddy.com, but it will place your full postal address on public directory available to anyone. I am just starting my own professional website, but want to separate private life from that |

Many registrars offer a service that makes their service the domain contact hiding your real information. Of course the service is usually extra $$$.
I use GoDaddy.com for some of my domains. It offers Private Domain Registration. I also use NameCheap.com which also has WhoisGuard. Both have special pricing. NameCheap is currently giving 1 year free with new registrations and transfers. Note, you can't use these privacy services with ".US" domains. Regards, Rich |

We do not do domain registration (yet ).
I think GoDaddy and others have an option to keep your record private, for a small extra fee. - Geir |

I have my domain running, though I need to still do following as per RB instructions.
---------- Log in to your domain hosting service on the web, and make a small change to the DNS (Domain Name System) settings of your domain. Simply update the MX (Mail eXchanger) records of your domain to point to "mx.runbox.com". ---------- However, I can't seem to find such option in godaddy.com! Anyone used this? where can i find ? |

It appears GoDaddy recently changed their interface and I can't find where you'd change your MX either.
It use to be called Total DNS. In fact if you go to the GoDaddy help it's still referencing how you would get to it under the previous interface. If I find it I'll post back. If you plan on using the free web hosting you get with your Runbox account you could change the Name Servers to point to your web hosting then change the MX Record from your Runbox Web Hosting account. Found it!
Log in to GoDaddy. Click on the "My Account" link Click on the "Manage Domains" link Click on the link for the domain you want to manage. This is the "Domain Control Center". You have to scroll down in the inner window of the "Domain Control Center". Not scroll the whole browser window. Click on the "Total DNS Control and MX Records" link. This is the "Total DNS Control Panel". Go down to the "MX (Mail Exchange)" section. Click "Add New MX Record" Set Host Name to "@" Set Goes To Address to "mx.runbox.com" Regards, Rich |

Thanks for noticing Rich - I will certanly tell them so we get it right.
We will also get similar DNS tutorials for 14 other providers. Will make it easy for users and save us a lot of explaining. |

The inner window/panel that I'm referring to is on the "Domain Control Center" browser page just below the text that says "Domains >> Details:"
You should see a line of icons labeled "Organize", "Locking", "Upgrade Domains" and so on. Under that you should see labels such as "Status:", "Protection:", "Locked:", "Registered:" and so on. Under that is a section labeled "Contacts" showing the contact information for Registrant, Administrative, Technical and Billing. Under that is a section labeled "Total DNS Control". It is this section that I have to scroll down to get to. In Firefox and IE I have two scroll bars on the right hand side. The farthest right scroll bar is the browsers scroll bar for the page. The inner scroll bar is for the window/panel containing the domain information. That's the one you have to scroll down to get to the "Total DNS Control" section. I hope that helps. Regards, Rich |
