Which software does this BB use?
I am just curious, what "bulletin board software" does this site use?

I believe that it is version 2.3.3 .
http://www.emaildiscussions.com/show...threadid=17796 Edwin has opted for forum stability rather than chasing the latest bells and whistles. |

This site runs better than most vb3.6.3 sites so there is NO NEED to upgrade.... Good work Edwin |

Hey Edwin!
As there is no trial version of vBulletin, there are some questions, perhaps you can answer better, as i am considering to buy this sw - Is it possible to modify "Poll" as so to include "correct answer". Basically, I want to make it a quiz-taking software. (At least I couldn't find any other robust sw that could do my job) - Is there user rating system (or easy to create such)? Something like.. * Other users can give rating/feedback * User gets +1 rating while participating in a poll with "correct answer" & -1 with wrong "answer" - Do we get to completely customize vBulletin, change code and so on. |

No there isnt a trial available but you can setup a demo which lasts 24hrs.
You can pretty much see everything on the demo as your the admin.. (Demo uses latest version) Its too bad vbulletin doesnt have a free version like the others do,this is the BEST out there i think it might help them rack in sales... (Upgrade to a better paid version) They could probably use VBULLETIN LITE and offer that free.. |

I can't answer a lot of those questions - the whole reason for staying with version 2 of vBulletin is to keep things super-simple. While they might be "nice" for one reason or another, this site doesn't actually need many bells and whistles - the conversations are the key point!
You can definitely customise anything you like, but the downside (if you start modifying the code) is that the next time you upgrade (for security patches for instance) you run the risk of overwriting your modifications or having them clash with the updated routines. |
