We are investigating. This will only affect some users.
Let's hope it's up & running soon - I thought that there was "elegant redundancy" and fail over to an alternate server?

It's seems very odd to me that there is no "fail safe" or a tested back up redundancy system involved here.

They have the ability to switch over to a replica, but this is a manual action. They only use it when they cannot resolve the problem on the current server quickly. This is sufficient for me and my customers. However, those who cannot tolerate occasional short outages need to arrange their own backup accounts, which Fastmail facilitates.

On this occasion, the outage seemed to last 20 minutes for the small percentage of Fastmail customers affected. This would be annoying, but not serious, for most of them.
