At first sight the service looks ok, even for me, who only needs about half a Gb of storage; one hundred Mb of storage is cutting it pretty fine though, these days.

Kewla wants too much information to register an account.
Kewla says they value privacy -- "Because we never scan your messages for keywords or target you with ads, you can rest assured that your messages will be safe and secured. Every Kewla account comes with a scan-free guarantee, unlike other companies we will never scan your email messages, we believe that what you send or receive is personal and private".
That sounds good. But, in order to create an account, you have to provide information that I consider to be "personal and private," such as the precise day, month and year of birth, telephone number, and geographical location. What conceivable reason (other than data mining or compulsive nosiness) is there to require such information for a free account that supposedly does not scan text or sell space or information to commercial interests? I don't appreciate being forced to choose between providing information that is none of their business or telling lies, so no thanks! |
