How do I know if a mail has been downloaded?
Here is my thoughts on how to give evicence that my automatic set up is functioning.
I set thunderbird to download at startup? I put TB in startup folder. I set TB to only download one of the emails addys that only me write to. So nothing important email get lost to my HD and me not able to read it until I get back many month later. So by sending an email just b4 the timer log on my computer and then I try to download same email on my mobile phone and it is there then my set up had failed to start up but if it is nothing there to download then my startup had worked that week. next week i send again and get confirmation that it worked that week that day too. To protect against delays I could send one email a day b4 and even have three different meail providers in case they fail that day. will it work? or else I remember they say it is possible to get a confirmation from the sending email client. Does Opera function that way? Or do I ahve to use Thunderbird? Trew only 4 days to leave home. Nervous |

I 've read about it for maybe a whole year or two but I have no clue.
but I made up another brute force solution to my problem. I use gmail. They keep an email even if I download it via pop3 so I could always go via web and read it if important. I tested to set up TB in startup folder and set it to only load gmail at start and at ten minutes and to leave on server. It worked but what didn't work was that the conflict between lan and Antivirus and Firewall sometimes make the delay too big. Modem make AV to not start up properly. That is a bad thing. So maybe I need to use two timers but that make the set up more vulnerable. anyway. Internet explorer is more tolerant to delays than opera and firefox. both fo them stalled when they had to wait too long while IE worked some 30 sec to one minute more. But it is too tight to be reliable ok I have 4 days to find a good solution but I am very near the workable solution now. this one work but is unpredictable trew going soon to bed |
