New ad style...
I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the new, less intrusive text ads on these Forums.
Are they easier/harder to spot than before? Are they more/less annoying than before? Are you more/less likely to read them/buy from them than before? Personally, I think they manage to be less intrusive AND more obvious, but I could be in a minority of 1 |

Hi Edwin,
I find them to be much less intrusive than the previous style of ads, which i like, although im not sure if thats what you're going for, because now i seem to overlook them entirely. They blend into the site very well, which makes them look better. I generally do not visit advertised links at all, so maybe im not the best person to talk to. I think they need more contrast to the rest of the site if people are going to notice them. -- Matt |

From a User's point of view I have to agree, they're less intrusive, and blend into the rest of the site nicely.
From a business point of view I figure you might want to sacrifice some usability, because they're not catching much attention anymore. |

The big, intrusive ads basically never worked anyway! At least this way, people have a better experience of the Forums... |

The ads have never bothered me, but as far as this site, would you consider using a darker background that would compliment the light blue and mint green? The yellow kinda gets lost, IMO.

Have I nailed it?
Is the colour too pink? Too red? |

Oh. Can it stay anything but yellow, if not this color? My eyes like it much better. :-)

Wow, bonus benefit - I just realised that the ads now stand out a lot more since they're the only "whitespace" on the page now... and yet, they're still small and therefore not annoyingly intrusive.
Unless I hear screams and moans from the back of the virtual room, this is the colour it's going to be - for a while at least |

BTW Edwin, is it possible for people like me (read: No creditcard, no Paypal) to donate something to you to help out a bit in the cost of the server? If it's possible I wouldn't mind donating a little bit. |
