ThinkPad still worth it?

A relative recently bought the ThinkPad X41. Another bought the T40 (top of the line model) awhile back. Still another has had 2 ThinkPads. I myself have been planning to get an X4x model too.

I realize it's too early to make definitive judgement calls, but does anyone have opinions/feelings whether it will still be worth it under Lenovo joint venture?

My understanding is that the current "support framework" will continue unaltered for a period of five years - probably still a good time to buy a thinkpad.

The X-series is superb. I've had a thinkpad X40 for three months now and am very pleased with its performance (its amazingly light - 2.7 lbs, and generates very little heat).

i agree. I think they're still worth it. It remains to be seen though after the five year point.

I own a T41. I don't care about Lenovo. I do know I got a great deal and a solid build laptop. I don't think quality would be sacrificed in any way in the future.. The Big Blue won't let it happen..
