"Check Names" button
Whatever happened to the "Check Names" button in the Compose screen of the FM Web interface? I haven't seen it in a long time, despite the fact that it's still described in the online help.
Thanks, ~ Justin |

In November 2008 the interface which is now the default was rolled out as beta. This is when the tokenizer (immediate address lookup) was introduced, and I think the Check Names button was removed at that time. Obviously the help wasn't corrected. Then in February 2009 this became the default interface at the current URL (http://www.fastmail.fm).
Once the address lookup became immediate as you typed, there was no good reason for the button. When you tab or otherwise move to the next field, the addresses are checked and tokenized automatically. Here is more about the introduction dates and features of the various interfaces: Fastmail beta AJAX, beta HTML, normal, and old web interfaces Bill |

Yeah, I remember that transition. I like the current interface. I guess I'm confused because my addresses are not getting tokenized properly. For example, if I create a new message and type "sheri, jford" (without the quotes) in the To: line and then tab or click elsewhere, nothing happens in the To: line; it just stays as "sheri, jford". I'm using Chrome with the AdBlock Plus extension.

That isn't an email address (username@domain), so maybe that person is in your online address book. The automatic address field features work fine for me with the latest version of Chrome on a Windows 7 PC.
