Ive been around for a bit and tested a lot of different email services
Gmail seems to be one of the easiest to use with more than enough storage to fit just about anyones needs. I moved on to paid services for privacy issues with gmail It seems lately less services are opening new so the posting for help here has slowed down Maybe its because those that have been here for a long time finally found a service that suits their needs I could be wrong but thats the way I see it |

It's funny because I was looking for Email Clients for Work and thought of this forum I have not posted in many years and was thinking what is there really to talk about any more?
I guess, Google Apps (Free) solved my problems. It was free, great interface and linked with my domains perfectly. As I also manage a small non-profit we have adopted Google Apps for Work which Google gives to Non-Profits for free. Why would we look anywhere else? I think Google Apps and Gmail really has taken over. It works with everything. Not much to really talk about when stuff just "works" |

The major players do not have a total email monopoly as yet and hopefully they never will. I do not believe that could ever happen - think about it.

I don't think the big players will completely take over but Google Apps and Office 365 have taken a huge share.
I work in the non-profit sector and these two are spreading like fire. Both are free. |

Other sites had an abundance of web crawlers lately so it could have been
Its not a matter of the big companies taking over its more that newer companies are not opening up And the majority of posts here were reporting new services or asking for help or doing reviews on such Without all the new companies opening posts here had to drop If you notice all the posters that have been here for a long time that tried all the new services are not posting about them as much anymore |

Not just a hunch, as that happens all over the place with forums, as I've known quite a few where they just have their discussions on Facebook and their forum died. I even knew of one guy (/I was on his forum until he deleted it ) who runs a comic book store in Australia and he had business cards printed up in regards to his forums of the same name, so that way any customer who wanted to join his forums and talk about comic books, sci-fi and fantasy stuff could just pick up a card on their way out and join up once they got home and got on their computer. Even though his store is successful his forum never got real busy, which is nuts if you ask me.

Geez, I've been coming here for 12 years.
Yes, its not the busy place it once was. It did seem to attract a lot of psuedo intellectuals but they must have tired of trying to impress and moved on to bigger and better things. |

There aren't as many discussions because email services (and email clients) have improved over the years.
But this is still a moderately active discussion forum. According to the EMD website, the most users ever online was 2,616, 5 Jul 2015 at 07:41 AM. If that's true, then it was more active that day (less than 2 months ago) than any other time in the forum history! Bill |

^A lot of those are bots though. I run several forums myself and you can look up their IP addresses, which those "users" turn out to be from Amazonnaws, they say "spider" this or that, etc.
