There's only a few downsides to Protonmail. It has a pretty small attachment limit and it's not IMAP compliant due to the technology it uses. But the thing that really was a deal breaker for me when it comes to using it as a main source of email is the iPhone app. The app is resource intensive and buggy to the point that it froze my iphone. twice. Both times I had to have a technician restore it to factory settings because it wouldn't even load the OS on a hard reboot.

It shows promise, but it's not quite there yet.

The big drawback for many yet is the lack of OpenPGP interoperability (import/exchange of public keys, export of private key, use your own PGP key pair, exchange encrypted mail with Thunderbird/Enigmail users, etc).

That's been promised since v2.1 a year ago, last January for the "next release", now pushed into the vague future.

Even today, many of our Visionary level users are upgrading just to support ProtonMail.

If 'Visionary level' is your highest level, how can you upgrade from that?

It's not his website.

I find it sad that protonmail is using black-friday to make money.

Isn't that the purpose of Black Friday?

Well.. I suppose that could be said. But it's also usually a good day for those that are buying. I don't think that applies here though, I find this offer extremely expensive.
